FAQ
Do I need a visa to travel to Egypt?
Yes. US Citizens are required to get a 30-day tourist visa on arrival at the Cairo International Airport for a fee of 25 USD.
How can I prepare for the Program?
Students who want a head start can enroll in optional preparatory Arabic sessions offered before the trip. Those interested may contact admin@seekers.institute for details.
What if I don't speak Arabic?
You do not need to know Arabic to join this program. Our staff and faculty will guide you throughout your time in Egypt, helping you navigate daily interactions and cultural experiences. The curriculum is designed to build your skills from the ground up, with composition as a core focus to help you express yourself confidently and clearly in Arabic.
Is Egypt safe for travel?
Yes, Egypt is safe for travelers. Cairo is considered very safe, and the Madinah an-Nasr area in particular is a comfortable and reliable place for students. As with any large city, some areas are better suited for visitors than others, so students should inform staff and seek guidance before exploring areas outside of Madinah an-Nasr.
Will my phone work in Egypt?
All accommodations have Wi-Fi, but students are strongly encouraged to arrange cellular data and must ensure their phones are not carrier-locked if they plan to use local providers. Mobile service can be set up through an international plan, a local Egyptian SIM (Vodafone or Orange, typically ~$15–20 for 50 GB and ~$10 for 200 minutes), or an eSIM (Maya Mobile or Airalo, ~$25–45 for 10 GB). An eSIM is the recommended and most reliable option. All students are required to share their live location on Life360 for the full duration of the trip, either through the app or a 360 Tile Tracker.
How will I get around in Egypt?
Airport shuttles are provided upon arrival and departure. Students are responsible for their own transportation for all other outings. Uber is the preferred and most reliable option, with fares typically ranging from $1–$3 USD per ride depending on distance. Students who do not plan to purchase a local SIM card should set up their Uber accounts before arriving in Egypt.
Is the Taklīm Intensive open to sisters as well?
Yes. The Taklīm Intensive is open to both brothers and sisters. Programs, classes, and accommodations are thoughtfully structured to ensure a comfortable, respectful, and appropriate learning environment for all participants.
What does the daily schedule look like?
The daily schedule varies based on each student’s placement level and class grouping. In general, students can expect a structured day centered around core language instruction, composition sessions, and guided practice sessions, with designated breaks and off-hours built in. A full, detailed schedule will be provided upon arrival.
Where will accomodations be located?
Student housing and classes will be located in Madinah an-Nasr. Final room assignments and apartment details will be shared during the month leading up to the trip.
What is the trip cost?
The land package is $2500 USD. Flights can be arranged upon request.
